The new Whitty Theatre is one of the first buildings to be seen on entering the School grounds, and as such needed to be welcoming, and to look dynamic and interesting.

It also forms the backdrop to a Grade II listed Edwardian house, which is the core of the School.

A fully glazed foyer linking the four distinct parts of the new building, allows enticing views into and out of the space and links the new building with the rest of the school.

The 179-seat auditorium is clad in a special blended brick, forming a central “tower”. The remaining sections comprising a dance and drama studio, workshop and an ancillary block containing offices, classrooms and back of house spaces are clad in stained timber boards.
