PENSARN
HOUSE EXTENSION
084
Our client bought the house to create a new home following a move to the area. The existing rooms were small and dark and unsuitable for modern living – the kitchen was small and felt like a corridor between the back door and the rest of the house, and the two further ground floor rooms were small and inflexible with a contorted circulation layout. We designed a new wrap-around extension, connected to one of the ground floor rooms, to create a large open plan kitchen, dining living space. The second ground floor room was converted into a cosy snug with a log-burning stove, and the tiny original kitchen became a useful utility room. The extension was constructed using timber frame, stone and timber cladding and a slate roof to give a low impact, visually appealing appearance.
